EVALAUTION OF THE EDUCATION IN ERCIYES UNIVERSITY BY THE STUDENTS OF THE MEDICAL FACULTY
Objective: To determine the opinions of the interns on the system-based, integrated medical education programme which has been used for the past twenty years in Erciyes University Medical Faculty.
Method: 181 of the last year students were asked to fill a questionnaire about the education system, the competence of educators, students’ efforts and interests related to medicine.
Results: Most of the attending students had graduated from public high schools (93.4%) and more than half of them had repeated at least one year in medical school. The average order of the students who had selected Erciyes University Medical Faculty was 7.7 ± 4.4. Current lectures on preclinic and clinical sciences were evaluated as sufficient. Some lectures were evaluated as unnecessary (37.5%) and some as duplicated (43.9%). It was suggested that presentation styles of lectures could be improved (22.7%) and that lecturers should improve their teaching techniques (19.9%) .
Conclusion: Students considered that there should not be duplications in lectures and that the teaching skills of the lecturers should be improved.
